- Check out GROUNDS & SOUNDS on Facebook!
GROUNDS & SOUNDS is a neighborhood art and music festival presented by Groundswell, a cafe located on the corner of Thomas and Hamline Avenues in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul. The festival started in 2010 as an annual music and art festival for the community surrounding the cafe. It’s become a celebrated neighborhood event that has grown year after year. The festival returns on August 20th for its sixth year bringing local music, art, and handcrafted food together in a neighborhood celebration for all ages and tastes.
GROUNDS & SOUNDS is sponsored by Flat Earth Brewing Company, McNally Smith College of Music, Barely Bros Records, and Metro Transit, with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in partnership with the Hamline Midway Coalition.
Beyond the music, HWY North will be hosting a sidewalk local art fair, and Barely Bros Records will host a pop up record shop. Plus, Metro Transit is providing free rides to the festival! Click the Metro Transit logo below to access your free ride pass for the day of the festival.
We will also be raising awareness for COMPAS, a non-profit arts education organization that uses the arts to unleash creativity. COMPAS’ roster of more than 100 professional teaching artists teach students of all ages at schools, libraries, hospitals, shelters and other community centers across Minnesota. They will providing a mask making workshop for kids from 12p-2p
during the festival.
